North Shropshire pupils and staff went ‘spotty’ for Children in Need last Friday, raising thousands of pounds for the appeal which helps to change children’s lives.
Pudsey Bear fever gripped schools around the region in spirit of the one-day event which this year has raised £18 million nationally for the charity.

At the Happy Faces Day Care Nursery at Adcote School, Little Ness, £150 was raised from a host of sponsored events including a cake sale, a colour-in Pudsey exercise, a pin the scarf on Pudsey task and a ‘Show Your Spots Lets Make Lots’ fashion show.
Julia Knutbrown told the Chronicle that the Pudsey-inspired games had gone down well with the children, who also made biscuits to sell on the cake stall.
“It went really well and well done to all the staff who organised it all,” she said.
And at Cockshutt Primary School, both children and staff came to school in their pyjamas carrying their teddy bears – and at lunchtime they gave a donation to have a fruit cocktail from a special counter set up in spirit of the event.
Janice Williams said all the children had enjoyed the day, with £55 raised so far and more money coming in.
Nightwear
Meanwhile, children at Rhyn Park School in St Martins also donned their nightwear for Children in Need.

And earlier this month a group of pupils at Thomas Adams School in Wem raised around £3,000 for the appeal by collecting sponsorship for staying awake for 24 hours.
It was the school’s biggest fundraising event for the last two years. Pupils and staff attempted to shun shut-eye by taking part in a wide range of night-time activities including a bouncy castle, gladiator duel, DVDs, computer games and an inflatable assault course.
