Whitchurch will be looking to continue their flying start to the season in the Birmingham Cricket League second division as they get ready to visit Harborne on Saturday (noon).
The Heath Road men moved up to third in the table on 49 points following their 136-run hammering of Aston Manor last weekend.
The home side overcame tricky early batting conditions to post 224. The foundations were laid by 53 and 52 from Simon Gregory and Simon Bowen, before Richard Oliver top scored with a fine 80.
Amjaad Ali Khan then took 6-47 against his former club as Aston Manor were dismissed for just 88.
“Once we got over 200 we knew we had a good score and we have bowled and fielded really well all season,” said captain Bowen. “As this is our first season in this league a lot of the teams we are coming up against are unknown quantities, including Saturday’s opponents Harborne.
“We are going into games just concentrating on our own game and backing ourselves to pick up good results.”
Whitchurch II resumed their reserve division three season with a winning draw at Aston Manor II. They made 177-9 from their 50 overs, James Wojda top scoring with 48, well supported by Chris Rowe (21) and Dave Weaver (20).
In reply Aston finished on 136-9 in the face of accurate bowling from Mark Tooze (4-26) and Elliot Bowen (2-30).
