AN inquest has been opened into the death of a St Martins businessman and his wife and daughter.
The bodies of 56-year-old Susan McFall and her daughter Francesca, 18, were discovered by police at their home in Hampton Road, Oswestry, and within hours, the body of Hugh McFall, the husband of Susan and father of Francesca was found in his business lock-up in St Martins.
Detective Inspector Mick Homden told the inquest opening in Shrewsbury that officers attended 40 Hampton Road as a result of a receiving a phone call and found the bodies of Mrs McFall and her daughter.
Further inquiries resulted in police attending an industrial unit in Ellesmere Road, St Martins where the body of 48-year-old Mr McFall was found. He said post mortem examinations carried out by a Home Office pathologist established the two women died from head injuries. Hugh McFall died as a result of hanging.
Circumstances
DI Homden said police investigations into the circumstances were continuing and it would be several weeks, if not months, before they were complete.
After hearing evidence of identification, the coroner for Mid and North Shropshire Mr John Ellery adjourned the hearing to a future date.
Detective Superintendent Thornes, in response to media speculation, said: “I can confirm that Hugh McFall was not the subject of any police investigation prior to his death”.
