Bond to help raise church roof

assetaccess.jpgResidents in Loppington are invited to don their tuxedos and cocktail dresses for a casino night to raise much-needed funds for their local church.

The James Bond casino night has been organised by members of St Michael and All Angels church to help bring in cash for a project to repair the church roof, which will cost an estimated £74,000.

To kick off the massive fundraising drive in 2010, a James Bond casino night will be held on Saturday, January 30, from 7.30pm in Loppington Village Hall for adults and older teens.

Black tie and evening dress are optional and there will be ‘Loppington money’ on sale to bet on the tables. A £100 cash prize will be presented to the person with the most Loppington money left at the end of the evening.

Church warden Helen Lopez said: “The church has to raise a daunting amount to break even in 2010, and this is our first fundraiser of the year.

“Please help us to raise a large amount by coming to this event and bringing your friends. Your support makes the impossible become possible.”

The church has applied for two grants towards the cost of the ceiling work and is hoping to hear whether or not the applications have been successful by the start of February.
