£10,000 wake-up call

A school in Wem has raised nearly £10,000 for charity in a single night – double their target – after pupils committed to staying awake for 24 hours.

A total of £9,594.93 was raised when the usual night-time tranquillity at Thomas Adams School was shattered with more than 300 pupils, prefects and staff spending the night at school during Stay Awake 24. The final amount was revealed this week following the event, which took place on November 7.
