One teenager who was in no mood to celebrate New Year was 18-year-old Graham Boulger who had his “prize possession” quad bike worth £2,500 stolen.
Graham, from Wem, had his blue Yamaha CC 200 bike, crash helmet and boots taken from a hangar at Sleap Airfield between 4pm on December 16 and 1.45pm on December 17.
Now a £500 reward has been offered for information leading to the recovery of the items.
In total it is thought about £3,500 worth of equipment was taken.
The hangar is owned by Graham’s dad, Graham senior, who believes someone may have sold these items to an unsuspecting buyer for a Christmas present.
Graham Snr bought his son the bike for his 14th birthday while in Spain.
He said quad biking is a favourite hobby of his son’s who was ‘devastated’ to find out a week before Christmas his bike equipment had been stolen.
“Although there are a number of aircraft stored in the hangar the thieves seemed specifically to target my son’s bike as they also rummaged through the hangar and took his crash helmet and boots.
“The fact that it was a week before Christmas made it worse.”
Maria Hawkaluk, a spokesperson for West Mercia Police, said: “A Yamaha quad bike, along with various tools and tool box were also taken and police are looking at CCTV.” Anyone with any information can call police on 0300 333 3000.
