Bosses at a Whitchurch hotel have come up with a novel way to beat the credit crunch – by helping lovebirds who want to tie the knot in the New Year.
Macdonald Hill Valley Hotel, Golf and Spa, on Tarporley Road, is offering a free top table to couples who may have got engaged over the festive break but who could be faced with postponing plans because of the economic downturn.
Jamie Minshall, revenue manager at the hotel, said: “It’s only a recent development, we’re waiting to see if it generates interest.”
The hotel has three weddings booked for this weekend so Mr Minshall said the credit crunch had not affected them too much so far.
The offer is for engaged couples getting married at the hotel this year with up to 10 guests on the top table being paid for by the hotel.
It applies to weddings where there is a minimum of 80 people booked for the wedding breakfast and 100 guests during the evening.
Mr Minshall added that he fully supported the Chronicle’s We Mean Business campaign which aims to back local organisations who have come up with original ways to sustain themselves during the global recession.
