A four-year-old cancer sufferer from Ellesmere has touched the hearts of celebrities as his family rally around him to raise awareness for cancer charities.
Trinny and Susannah, Sir Steve Redgrave and Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff have all donated items for a charity fundraiser after hearing about Alex Jacques, who was diagnosed with cancer last year.
Doctors discovered a tumour the size of a rugby ball in his stomach last July and the cancer spread to his lungs.
Alex is now in stage four of the illness and has had a kidney removed. He was due to start school this term but is being kept at home. Dad Nick Jacques said although it is still early days ‘he is doing well and we have to live in hope’.
Mr Jacques, has organised a charity night and auction in Wrexham on Friday, September 26, at 7pm, in aid of Cancer Research UK and Leukemia Research. He wants to raise more than £3,000.
“We have had some amazing donations so far,” said Mr Jacques. “We have Strictly Come Dancing’s Karen Hardy who is donating a personal dance lesson and Steve Redgrave emailed me from Beijing.”
He has also received signed Horrible Henry books and a signed photograph from England cricket star Freddie Flintoff.
Kylie Minogue and David Tennant have donated a signed photograph and the cast of Emmerdale have sent over a bag of goodies from the set too.
And in October Mr Jacques and Alex will be taking part in a sponsored seven mile walk with Sir Ian Botham from Llandudno to Abergele for Leukemia Research.
