Plans for a new sports complex and coach parking area have been announced for a village secondary school.
The application has been made by Wrexham County Borough Council for Maelor School, in Penley.
As well as the sports complex there are plans for a new bus and coach facility which villagers are hoping will lead to a reduction in traffic congestion during the school run.
Kevin Hughes, planning officer for WCBC, said the new sports hall would measure 33 metres by 18 metres with further rooms within the complex.
Mr Hughes said: “In addition to the hall there will be changing rooms, staff equipment rooms and a room for aerobics. We will be creating new access on to the site for a bus and coach parking.
There will also be a new car park for staff and visitors.”
It is not yet known if the application will go before a planning committee or if approved when building work is likely to begin.
No costs are yet known for the project.
