A village is set to receive a £1.75 million investment from a national pub chain and developers which will see 10 homes and garages built.
The homes would be located on vacant land next to the Admiral Duncan Inn in Baschurch, which is owned by Punch Taverns. The proposal includes redevelopment of the car park area and, if approved, would see 10 new homes along with garaging in the village.
The homes will be three three-bedroom houses, three four-bedroom houses, two two-bedroom flats and two shared equity houses – a three-bed and a two-bed. Seven of the properties will be semi-detached and three detached.
An application has been sent to North Shropshire District Council by bosses at Punch Taverns, who are joint applicants with property developers Bluemark Developments Limited.
The application by agents N & JC Design Limited stated: “The development will provide new dwellings that will enable local people to purchase new properties within the district, rather than creating the need for migration of people away from their established roots in this popular area.”
Nigel Bates, director from Bluemark Developments Limited, said that a date had not yet been set for when building work would begin.
Joan Dowell, spokesperson for NSDC, said that a decision is expected by October 31. It has not yet been decided whether the plans will come before development control.
A spokesperson from Punch Taverns said: “Punch Taverns can confirm that, via our agents Bluemark, we have applied for planning permission for residential outlets on the site of the Admiral Duncan.”
