Local surgeon of to Nepal

sd2564566p23-jones21.jpgThere will be smiles all round when a plastic surgeon travels to Nepal to operate on children with cleft palates and burn victims next month.

Mr Rowan Pritchard-Jones, from Whitchurch, works at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool and has raised around £2,000 so he can visit Nepal for ten days from April 12.

This is his first trip to the country and he will be travelling with the charity, the International Nepal Fellowship.

He said: “At the moment I am putting together all the medical equipment I need.

“I don’t know exactly where I am going, but it’s somewhere extremely remote near Doti in the far west of the country.

Thank

“I am going to take over a local school house and I will operate there.

“I will be doing mostly cleft lip palates and plastic surgery for burns victims.

“I am not too sure how many people will come to the door but I am expecting at least 60,” he added.

Mr Pritchard-Jones said he wanted to thank everyone who had contributed to his trip.

“We have probably raised around £2,000 and one donor has given us £1,000,” he said.

“I hadn’t really set out to raise a certain amount of money, the people of Whitchurch have exceeded all our expectations.”

Mr Pritchard-Jones said he has been touring the district with his laptop to give talks on his adventure and is continuing to raise funds.
