Hibbert, who sat out last weekend’s 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Hereford owing to a one-match ban, hopes for an instant recall as Town head to north London.
The 11-goal striker, relishing the competition posed by fellow frontmen Guy Madjo, James Constable and Andy Cooke, is keen to make up for lost time by forcing his way into the selection thoughts of boss Gary Peters.
“Guy’s had a little niggle this week but the team’s not named until Friday so we’ll have to see what happens,” said Hibbert. “But I’m desperate to be involved and get back to scoring goals. I want to be involved at Barnet and it’s a game we want to win.”
Hibbert has been delighted to play regular first team football for the first time in his career this season, and revealed he’s on course to reach the private goal target he set in August. But he added he was still keen to improve all areas of his game and help Town end the season on a high note.
“I’ve had injuries in the past so it’s been brilliant to get a run of games,” said the ex-Preston and Port Vale man. “I want to improve my game so I’ll keep working hard.
“The first thing for me to do is get back in the team and then I want to score as many goals as I can.
“I’m really passionate about Shrewsbury and want the best for the club. We feel we’ve under-achieved this season and it’s down to us as players to start improving results as we’ve probably let ourselves down a bit.
“But we’ve got a good squad of talented players who can only keep getting better.”
Hibbert admits the League Two table does not make great reading with Town in 14th spot – but he remains confident recent improved performances will soon be rewarded with results.
“You look at Sky Sports News and the league tables come up and you analyse them,” he added. “We’re in a position we don’t want to be but I don’t think the performances have been too bad lately. But we’ve got to start winning games, whether it’s by playing well or winning ugly.”
