Affordable homes are in the pipeline for residents of a small village after housing specialists unveiled plans for a new development.
Bosses from First Step Homes Midlands, based in Shrewsbury, have been consulting with the residents of Loppington to discover their reactions to a new housing development in the village.
The company, which provides affordable housing, has already decided to place the homes on the Burlton Road in the village and has confirmed that they would be affordable homes specifically for local people.
Last month, Richard Bayliss from First Step Homes Midlands, attended a meeting of Loppington Parish Council to inform them of the plans, although he has refused to be drawn on the number of homes to be built.
Mr Bayliss said: “The houses will be affordable houses and they will be purely for the local people. I have spoken to the parish council and the location would be on the Burlton Road as you go out of Loppington.
“We are not thinking of any numbers yet, but we are thinking that it will not be too many.
“First of all we need to establish what housing need there is. Secondly, with the support of the parish and the community, we will work to come up with a scheme. Then we would need planning consent.
“We are at the very, very early stages and before we can do anything we have to establish if there is a need for what we would like to do.
“We have put flyers in the parish magazine and they are being delivered to every house in Loppington.
“We need to see if there is a need because there is no point if no one in Loppington parish wants it. We can then go on to the next step which is trying to come up with a scheme that the parish and community can support.”
David Edge, clerk of Loppington Parish Council, said: “Until First Steps Homes Midlands come forward with any proposals we cannot comment.”
