Colehurst Manor for sale

A restored manor house of “national importance” worth £1,750,000 has been put on the market after the owners decided to move overseas.

Old Colehurst Manor, in Colehurst, is an Elizabethan manor house which has been the property of Lord Bjorn Teksnes and his wife Maria, who are now planning to move abroad.

The couple bought the property when it was nearly derelict and the house has since undergone seven years of restoration work and has been completely renovated. The manor house has been used as a wedding and entertainments venue and has a drinks and marriage license.

A spokesperson for agents Savills, who are selling the home, said: “The manor has just come on to the market because our client, Lord Bjorn Teksnes, is selling the property as he is moving back overseas.

“It’s a lovely 15th century country house that he has restored beautifully.

“We have just started having viewings and people are already booking up to have a look. It is one of the most important, beautiful houses in north Shropshire and has national importance.

“It has been completely restored which took a lot of hard work. The owner has done incredibly well and it has been done absolutely in-keeping.”

The manor was built in 1580 and lists Charles I as one of its visitors. It has many historical features, including Elizabethan panelling, finely carved chimney pieces and fireplaces.

It is described as a family home with a banqueting hall, nine bedrooms, five ensuite, two further bedrooms, store rooms and cellar. Outside there is a one bedroom annexe and a detached double garage.

There are also formal walled gardens, a croquet lawn, a summerhouse and a and glass house.
