Town address for charity

An award-winning charity has moved to new premises and staff are urging people to have a clear-out of their household goods so they can continue their work.

From 2008 onwards the North Shropshire Furniture Scheme (NSFS) can be found at Unit 3, Wem Business Park, New Street, Wem.

Due to popular demand by north Shropshire residents, the NSFS store will be open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays each week from 10am until 1pm.

The new premises are in the centre of Wem and more accessible for everyone, and NSFS hopes to be able to help more people by opening its doors to customers an extra day per week.

North Shropshire Furniture Scheme, one of 14 social enterprises of the Cheshire Furniture Re-use Forum, won the national award for Best Community Recycling Initiative.

Over the last two years the forum has increased the tonnage of furniture it re-uses by 90 per cent and has helped more than 10,000 people.

The scheme’s aim is to help the local community by providing low cost furniture, electrical and household items.

North Shropshire Furniture Scheme said it relies heavily on voluntary help and is always on the look-out for double beds and white goods. If you would like to help and have a couple of hours to spare per week, please call Nicki on 01939 234222.
